During my photo workshop in Havana we had access to many places that tourists do not. This was a direct result of our leader, Peter Turnley and his many years of travel to Havana and his love and respect for the people and culture. We were welcomed with open arms wherever we went.
On our itinerary was a trip to an outdoor dance club called Salón Rosado de la Tropical. Peter had trouble describing the place to us except to say that it was something that most of us had probably never experienced and every so often, someone is stabbed or killed there. Don’t worry though, it will be fun and an amazing opportunity to make great photos.
This could be my favorite memory from a trip full of unforgettable people, places and things.
Here are just a couple of the images from that evening at La Tropical.
