On the Road (or Travels With My Dogs)

Preparing for my 2200 mile road trip took weeks. I am a confessed control freak, who tries to think of any variable in the things that I do. So, I generate lists: vehicle lists, packing lists, lists for the house sitter, etc. I’ve learned to keep most of these lists to myself having been accused of sucking some of the fun out of a trip with my obsessive behavior. I didn’t have to worry about any of that for this particular trip since my traveling partners would be my Boxer kids, Bella and Gus.

We are heading across the country, from Hermosa Beach, CA to Atlanta, GA to stay with my wife Becki while she produces her latest film. She rented a house in the Old Fourth Ward, an area that is being gentrified over the recent years, where old factories are being converted to lofts and small businesses are thriving. Within easy walking distance to the BeltLine for walking or jogging and surrounded by hip new cafes and coffee shops, there is plenty to do during my work breaks and on the weekends when Becki is not working.

Here are a few drive-by shots on our way through the desert along Hwy 40 and old Route 66.
