I was born and raised around Los Angeles, living in the San Gabriel Valley for most of my life. As long as I can remember there has been a New Years Day ritual in my house. We make a nice breakfast, usually waffles and bacon and then we watch the Rose Parade.
When I was in high school and in college, I did go to Pasadena a couple of times to camp out over night and see the parade in person, but I never actually stayed until it started. Those were long nights of partying with friends and by the time the parade was actually rolling the next morning I was off doing something else or had called it quits and was back home for some breakfast, knowing I could catch the parade on TV. So, I am 52 and I had never seen a Rose Parade float in person. Until this year.
My wife Becki and I decided to head out to Pasadena to see the post-parade viewing of all of the floats. Up close and personal.
Here are a few of the photos that I made.
Enjoy.
