Morro Bay

I’m getting to be that certain age where the thought of retirement is becoming more common in discussions with my wife. Aging parents have, over the last several years, shown us first hand what is monetarily necessary to take care of yourself when there is no longer income from a job or profession. Our biggest question is where, what area, are we planning on settling down. We have lived in, worked in and traveled to many places in the US. Southern California is home, but can it be comfortably sustainable into our old age? Now is the time to look around, to see if there might be a better place to retire. My plan is to explore the entire west coast of the United States to compare other areas to Hermosa Beach.

Our first trip is a short one, just four days, so we drove up to the central coast to visit some good friends and to look around at houses and property. I think over 15 years have passed since I last visited Morro Bay and now that I’m here I could kick myself for staying away for so long. For the next few days we are staying in a nice little hotel called Anderson Inn. It is on the Embarcadero within walking distance of all of the sights in Morro Bay and an easy drive north to Cambria and south to Pismo Beach.

Here are a couple of the requisite sunset shots from our first night.
