We just bought a new Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk.
We sold the car and traded in our 2-wheel drive Ford Explorer. I wanted a very specific truck that is capable of some serious exploring, and that’s what we got. Now, a road trip was needed, so we booked a place on Airbnb, packed up the truck with food, cameras, and the dog and set out for Mammoth Lakes Village in the eastern Sierra Nevada range.
Thankfully the new Jeeps are very civilized without sacrificing their off-road capabilities so our six-hour drive was comfortable and enjoyable. Once you’ve made a long drive with satellite radio and heated seats, well, you know.
This is the first time we’ve been to Mammoth in years and we weren’t disappointed. Our Airbnb condo was perfect. Comfortable, well stocked and close to town. And since California had enjoyed a record breaking winter, there was still plenty of snow on the ground. Some of the roads were still closed, probably not opening until July or August.
Here are a few of the photos from our trip to the Eastern Sierras.
And, here’s one of our new ride.
