Wasting Film – Or… Wandering around with a camera in hand and no purpose whatsoever. Roll #1

There is a small table near the front door. On it is a bowl for the garage gate remote, keys and fobs. There are sunglasses and outgoing mail on the table so they aren’t forgotten when I leave the house. And, more often than not, one of my cameras and an extra roll of film is waiting there for me to sling over my shoulder on my way out.

Wearing a camera has been a habit of mine for years. A habit that has resulted in thousands of exposed rolls of film. Not projects, but snapshots. Images of nothing in particular and of no great significance. I take them simply because it makes me happy.

I am going to try to make it a habit to post images from some of my walking around, snapshot rolls.

These shots are from a roll of Tri-X that I shot with my Hasselblad Xpan last weekend while walking home from breakfast.

We ate breakfast at one of our favorite places in Capitol Hill called Skillet. They have cast iron pans for wall art.

Walking west down Pike St.

Pike and Boren Ave. There are so many construction cranes in downtown Seattle.

I can’t resist a good parking garage shot.

Somewhere under Pike Place Mkt. I loved the chaos of all of the handwritten signs.

Most of our walks end up at the water. At this point, we were headed north from Pike Place Market back to Queen Anne where we live. It was a gorgeous, cool day and the skyline is much prettier since the Alaskan Way viaduct has been torn down. Mt. Ranier was almost visible in the background.
