Wasting Film – Roll #2

For the past couple of weeks, I have been working on a photo project that is quite different from anything I’ve done over the past 4 or 5 years. It is completely contained within the 12 exposures on one roll of black and white film shot through my Rolleiflex.

I’m not used to that sort of studied constraint.

So, here are some random, walk around, snapshots taken with my Leica MP loaded up with Lomo 800 color negative film.

Living in the Queen Anne area, the Space Needle is a constant in the local skyline. Being relatively new to Seattle, I haven’t tired of photographing it and have dozens and dozens of images so far.

We finally did the tourist thing and went to the top of the Space Needle. I have no problem with heights, but for some reason, I was a bit unnerved by the elevator ride up and by the clear, rotating floor. The views were spectacular and worth the discomfort.

These last three images are all about the colors. Lomo 800 continues to impress and is becoming a favorite color negative film for me.

I have two more rolls of exposed Lomo 800 that I have to develop and scan and than I’m switching back to Eastman 5222 for a good long time. I need more B&W.

  1. These are all great photos but the colors of the last 3 are so mmmmmuahhh. I thought of that before I actually read your text about how you love the colors too. It’s unanimous!

  2. Thanks, Dev. I love the way some colors really pop with the Lomo 800. It is also relatively cheap when it’s available.
