The “June Gloom” hit us hard over the Memorial Day weekend. I don’t mind, the overcast days keep the temperature in the high 60’s and I know that if we lived 8 or 10 miles to the east we would be facing much hotter weather. Becki doesn’t agree. She’s OK with the cool days, but really wants more sunshine.
We goofed off on Saturday and Sunday, eating too much and not doing anything productive. Just a normal holiday weekend. Monday, the official holiday, we treated like any other Monday and got back to work. Becki sitting in front of her computer in one room and me in front of mine in another.
To break up the day we took a nice long walk around 1pm. When your head is down and working, concentrating on your computer monitor, it’s easy to forget that there are so many things going on outside. Walking to a local coffee shop for a cup of coffee or tea and a few minutes of conversation has become a habit for us. It usually recharges me and I’m able to put in some solid work when we get home.
For the walk I loaded the Kodak Medalist with a roll of expired Tri-X and put an orange filter on the lens, hoping for more contrast on this grey, overcast day. I developed the film in HC-110 diluted 1+49. Here are a few of the images that I made.
As you can see by the empty beach chairs, we weren’t the only ones waiting for the sun to make an appearance.
